Samuel L. Bronkowitz Presents...

First things first... I stole this from j_d_finch. It's not about the concept, it's about the casting...

WORK SAFE - Trailer

  • THE FAT BLOND MAN WITH ONE MANGO-SCENTED SHOE
A jar of mango nectar shattered next to my foot in the supermarket today. My left shoe got splattered and now smells like mangos.

  • LINGUISTICS
I found this interesting tidbit through Fark; "Meh" is being added to the Collins English Dictionary, reported by both The Sun and The Sun Sentinel (meaning that to date, only solar-powered news sources have corroborated the bit).

  • LIMITED EDITIONS
Okay, so the week was not quite as expensive as I was expecting it to be, although that has more to do with the fact that none of the Varèse Club releases were a box set this time around. That said, between these and the new Intrada releases, I'm getting may hands on some music that I have really wanted for some time. Plus, I'm always down for a new Elmer Bernstein score or a funky 70s urban thriller, and Report To The Commissioner is both at once!

  • THE CONSPIRATORS ARE THE GOOD GUYS
I discovered Torchwood through jailnurse. I was amused that Captain Jack would get his own spin-off series (having seen him in Doctor Who), I liked the Urban Welsh location, the witty writing, the freewheeling sexuality and way that the science fiction elements were integrated - I also found it nice to see all of the tropes of The X-Files turned on their side. I recently picked up season one and found it much better without the commercial interruptions and slight edits made by BBC America. While the show is indeed shot on video, it was shot in high def, and so it actually looks really good on Blu-ray. And the commentaries are hysterical. I'm really enjoying this set. I should also mention that while I feel that the title theme suffers from being tragically hip, the original score music by Murray Gold and Ben Foster for the series is exceptional.

  • DOUBLE O SEVEN, OH!
I just wish to point out a discussion with vdkapenguin about my comments on Quantum of Solace and the direction of the franchise since the reboot.
