Memes and Whatnot

My most recent order with Screen Archives contained a promo disc of the score for what seems to be a short independent film called Wrong Hollywood Number. It's a large scale bubbly work by a composer named Edwin Wendler conducting the London Metropolitan Orchestra. It's only about fifteen minutes long or so, but it is delightful, lampooning the old fashioned Hollywood style. This is not the first time that I've gotten a bonus from SAE. I did get one of those 'whoopsie' inclusions that made such a mess back on the FSM board a few months ago, which was a Basil Poledouris technothriller score that I am extremely happy to have. This is a promo, however, and Wendler looks to be an interesting figure to follow.

And now for something completely different. A man with three buttocks...

    Concerts
Copy the list. Answer the questions.

  1. What was first concert you went to?
U2 at Giants' Stadium on the Popmart tour.

  2. What was the last concert you went to? Who did you go with?
... And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead @ The Williamsburg Hall of Music with Dan, Brian and Eric.

  3. Best concert.
That's a tough one, but I'd have to go with ...and you will know us from the trail of dead at Irving Plaza.

  4. Worst concert.
Jimmy Page and the Black Crowes at Jones Beach. I couldn't hear a god damn thing.

  5. What was the largest venue you saw a concert in?
    The aforementioned Giants Stadium.

  6. Smallest?
  7. There are a few smaller ones that seem to be the same size, the Music Hall of Williamsburg, Irving Plaza, that place we went to that I can't remember the name of.</li>
  8. What is your favorite venue?
I liked the Beacon Theater when it was more chill.

  9. Least favorite?
Jones Beach. That venue wins over the Roseland because while the sound at the latter sucks, at least I can hear it.

  10. If you’ve been to a festival or day-long concert, write about a memorable one.
I've never actually been to one of those.

  11. Did you witness anything “historic” at a concert?
    No.

  12. Describe a concert incident at a concert you weren’t involved in.
Heh... I went to see the Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon and there was a guy with his girlfriend seated a few rows back. He was already wasted before the show even began. He vomited just before they went on. By the end of the show, he was slumped forward in his chair passed out, while his girlfriend was with some other guy a few seats behind him.

  13. Describe a concert incident at a concert you were involved in.
Not much in the way of incidents, although I saw how slick Jen when she avoided the guard when she crashed the floor to join us all at the Stones show.

  14. Have you ever held up a lighter during a song?
    Yes!

  15. Write about a concert that was better than you’d anticipated.
The last time I saw ...and you will know us by the trail of the dead was their best performance, I didn't think they could improve on that Irving Plaza show. The lousy sound was the only detraction.

  16. Write about a concert that was worse than you’d anticipated.
I saw a show with Dave Matthews Band with Carlos Santana. I thought there would be more Santana. There wasn't.

  17. Write about a surprise guest at a concert you’ve been to.
I don't really recall any surprise guests.

  18. List three acts you wish you could see in concert.

    • Jimi Hendrix

    • Led Zeppelin

    • Pink Floyd

  19. What’s your most favorite piece of concert merchandise?
Right now it's the ...and you will know us by the trail of dead EP on vinyl.

  20. Furthest venue away from home you've seen a concert?
I haven't been very far... Jersey is it.

And from elsewhere...
