Wesley (Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel)

"Yep. That went well."

After a ludicrous series of e-mails back and forth, Fox Music finally threw in the towel on their DRM encoded WMA tracks for Firefly. They have made the digital EP available in mp3 format instead. Personally, I wouldn't have cared what format it was in but for the fact that the DRM encoding prevented me from either burning a CD or loading the tracks onto my Nomad. It was preventing me performing nothing less than my fair use rights on the music. Happily, the tracks are now loaded in mp3 format and I have already transferred them to my Nomad. This was a very frustrating situation.

Greg Edmonson's score is like what the show is, a twangy fusion of country and science fiction. It is therefore quite fresh. While I don't think it is overy derivative of anything else, I would cast it in the same category as W.G. Snuffy Walden's music for I'll Fly Away and The Stand. It is LP length, running just shy of forty minutes, which is pretty decent considering that I was doubtful I'd ever see this music released at all, although I wouldn't mind an actual CD with more of the score on it (reportedly Edmonson put one together that was a good 70 minutes).

Interestingly, there is a CD cover insert that you can print out, which mentions the score and that Joss Whedon wrote the title song, but it doesn't mention Sonny Rhodes, who sings the song. I wonder what that's all about. Weird.

I'm at my parents' house at the moment, and Steven's screensaver randomly displays family pictures. There is one shot of Zach taken by his babysitter when he was a year old with a big grin that is so cute. I wish he still looked like that sometimes... I know my mother has probably thought the same of me, as I looked like a cherub when I was a kid...
Bud (Repo Man)

I can't win.

Chronic cough just kept me from getting any sleep.

Pardon me whilst I go shoot myself in the head.

Update Shlup Pate

The bus ride was okay. I pretty much watched the first movie (Fast Times) and slept through the rest. It was quite refreshing, let me tell you.

We just arrived at Nantucket, and while there was some confusion as to what hotel Lenny and I were staying in, I had kept enough records to find the initial problem, which was that the hotel had misspelled my name as "Jizelt" instead of "Gizelt."

I'm going to take one more nap, and should be ready for tonight. My cough has subsided, which is very timely.

EDIT: One should read this post again after having read my post on Monday for an idea of how much restraint it took to write this.
