...despite the irony that I was up late last night putting tracks together for my upcoming compilation, which will complete the "space" trilogy I've been working on with Space Opera and Space Invaders. It's going to be an mix consisting of things like Greg Edmonson's Firefly, Queen's Flash Gordon, Eric Serra's The Fifth Element, Louis and Bebe Barron's Forbidden Planet and others... all unconventional approaches to the genre. The problem is that I don't have a title for the damn thing. I've been calling it Space Alternatives on the computer, but that sounds like Depeche Mode on Venus rather than the mix I'm making. I would like to retain the format of the other two titles - i.e. "Space" something - but I can't figure out what to call it. I'm open to suggestions (dollyknuckles, you were the direct impetus for the project, so if you have any ideas, let me know).
"Pathetic Earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void, without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe, anything at all, you would've hidden from it in terror."
While the death of Artoo has indeed bummed me out and the timing sucks in some ways, in others it isn't as bad as it could have been. I've been reading Greg Bear's The Forge of God, which is ramping up to its climax, so I wouldn't be listening to music much during my commute anyway. Hopefully I'll be able to clear this situation up soon. ( Collapse )
The sad demise of Artoo is a terrible blow, but one that I am now confident I can rectify fairly soon, thanks to aerolyndt (feel better!). But that would still have left a few musicless days, right? That's what I was worried about as well. But today I stumbled across my old iRiver imp350 Slim X mp3 CD player! I just put in a pair of AA batteries and it works just fine... the control stick as well! I'm burning a few mp3 CDs of new stuff right now!
Take care of your equipment and it takes care of you.
