Well, I finally got off my duff and did a decent job of picking up the apartment today. It's not immaculate, and the other area of the apartment is as cluttered as ever, but at least the living area is nice and comfortable once more.
It was nasty today. The air was so thick and hot that when it rained, it only made things worse, if you can imagine.
I've been checking out the Jerry Goldsmith Film Music Masters DVD. I had seen the original program on VHS when it originally came out, but I didn't have the money to be able to afford it, so I was very happy to be able to get the disc. One of the special features is extended interview sequences with several of his collaborators, one of my favorites being with Bruce Botnick,* who was a co-producer and engineer on most of Goldsmith's recent scores. He discusses the technical aspect of recording the film score, but the talk is peppered with numerous anecdotes. It's an excellent production.
* Yes, this is the very same Bruce Botnick who engineered the Doors albums.
