Grandpa looks very, very weak. The biggest problem is psychological; he hates feeling so helpless. He can't stand steadily nor move easily in his bed. Actually, he is doing rather decently for a guy who just had major surgery in two places.

He's in pain, but it's pain that can only be expected after what he's been through (as one of the doctors pointed out, you don't really feel aches and pains until the two days after overly strenuous activity, and the same principle applies here.

We're trying to keep on top of the situation as best as possible, but the hospital staff is really getting tired of my grandmother, which is understandable because she hovers all over anybody that comes to see my grandfather. There is a really fine line between doting and pestering if you're an old Jewish lady.
