Fast Times at Ridgemont High is one of the films selected by the Library of Congress to be included in the National Film Registry.
"The films we choose are not necessarily the 'best' American films ever made or the most famous, but they are films that continue to have cultural, historical or aesthetic significance."- James Billingston
Librarian of Congress
Obviously, Fast Times was preserved because of the effect it had on teenage boys, making it necessary to insure that Pheobe Cates' breasts will be preserved for generations to come.
The Sting, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and The French Connection were also included in this batch.
