Yes, the rumors are true. The original "unaltered" Star Wars trilogy will be issued on DVD in September. However, they will not be remastered, instead using the "Definitive Edition" 1993 laserdisc masters.
The original films' video quality will not match up to that of the restored versions. "It is state of the art, as of 1993, and that's not as good as state of the art 2006," Ward says.
So they will look like shit.
I have the laserdiscs, so I don't plan to spend money on something when the only difference is going to be that they don't sound as good. I have Robert Garrett's "Classic Edition" DVDs, which really are unaltered (i.e. no "Episode IV: A New Hope" in the opening crawl, no dubbing over Shelagh Fraser's original Aunt Beru dialogue, etc.).

I have what appears to be an infection on my right hand. I went to see the dermatologist yesterday; I'll hear back about what it is soon. I have some creams for my hand and was told that I should wear a white cotton glove. In order to avoid looking like Michael Jackson, I put a black glove on over it. All I need is a big plastic chest and I'll be like all Khan and shit.
