Computed and Con-Duncted

I got my new computer. It is sitting in boxes in my kitchen. I may have the chance to play with it tonight, but for the most part it will be lying dormant until Sunday, when I will be loading all the software onto it. So it sits there, mocking me. However, I have noticed a wave of panic emanating from my old computer. I don't think it took my threats to replace it very seriously.

My mother is hosting Rosh Hashanah this year, which is going to be a party of between thirty-six and forty people. Rhonda, Steven's sister, is usually very late. She was an hour and a half late to Zach's Bar Mitzvah.

Right now she is insisting that even though her son Sam gets out of work at five o'clock, that she can be up in Commack by six-thirty. Keep in mind she lives in New Jersey. I live in Queens and it takes me a little over an hour to get there. But she swore, so Steven hosted a bet; I have fifteen dollars I am confident I will be winning... Rhonda will not make it by six-thirty. She doesn't want to either; she had the option of carrying on this tradition (it was her mother's before she moved to Las Vegas) and decided against it. I have no doubt that she hopes very much to sabotage this event as much as possible.

Now, Rhonda is supposed to bring the sweet potato pie and the string bean casserole, so in order to insure that the meal can be had whether she's there or not, my mother will be preparing analagous side dishes, butternut squash and asparagus with garlic.
