Violence in cinema

There is long held idea that violence in art is a reflection of our society. I would actually venture that society itself is a reflection of what type of organisms we are as a species. Violence is the catch-22 of cinema; ya wanna see it even if you don't wanna see it. Even the most damning indictment about it (think Saving Private Ryan) is still, in a sense, trading on an almost pornographic delivery of violence.

This contradiction has been explored in several films. One of the most engaging is this scene:
