Mutton Pitchers of the Future!

Every time we have a meeting with my first line manager (whom I will heretofore refer to as 4F for a variety of reasons), he tells us how he's being eaten alive by the second and third liner. We just had a meeting with the third liner, and he was so effusive with his praise, I feel like I've been touched in an impure manner. I'm serious. He was kissing our asses. This gives us a new perspective on the 4F Bullshit Machine™, as apparently, Liberty Area Special Services exceeded expectations in all relevant categories. Productivity was up despite a smaller work force. Our numbers are better than anybody else's in the country.

I generally get along with my boss, but there are times when he tries a little too hard to overstep his boundaries. I wonder what he's going to say at this district meeting that we have scheduled next week. I know that our shop steward is going to jump down his throat for feeding us a load of crap. I'm pretty eager to hear him try to weasel out of this one.

Some points of interest in the upcoming batch of movies:

Kenneth Branagh is remaking Sleuth with Jude Law in the Michael Caine role and Michael Caine in the Laurence Olivier role. This sort of thing, along the participation of Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum in Martin Scorsese's Cape Fear, even Burt Reynolds showing up in the Adam Sandler version of The Longest Yard only supports my hypothesis that the next Bond villain should be played by Sean Connery, damn it.

Robert Zemeckis making a CG Beowulf film with a script by Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary. Voice cast is pretty impressive, too: Ray Winstone, Crispin Glover, Angelina Jolie, Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Robin Wright Penn and Brendan Gleeson. But what I really can't wait for is the sweeping Alan Silvestri score we're in for. And, this being a Zemeckis film, you know it won't be rejected in favor of some generic Media Ventures crapola.

Paul Greengrass returns to direct The Bourne Ultimatum. I liked The Bourne Identity well enough, really liked Greengrass' edgy approach to The Bourne Supremacy, so we'll see where this goes. Hopefully the films will maintain their intensity and we won't be seeing The Bourne Idiocy, The Bourne Stupidity or The Bourne Impotency any time soon.

And everybody ought to check out the trailer for this upcoming horror film! It may be one of the best of the year!!!

Yoinked from my cousin on MySpace are some random questions

1. What are you wearing?
Jeans and my Beatles Revolver T-shirt. Socks and underwear. And shoes. And a belt, too.

2. What did you do last night?
Froze my ass off, met up with Russ, conversed extensively with waystone and corrected heybishop's misconceptions about the meaning of the word 'faith.'

3. Missing...... and why?
I can't find my Varese CD of The Thirteenth Warrior (I still have the boot). I don't know where it is.

4. Last gift received?
Angel puppet.

5. Describe the last picture you were in?
I think I was captured in a photograph taken at a birthday party I was at on Saturday night ('captured' in that the picture was not being taken by one of our party, I was just in the background).

6. Last thing you ate?
A bagel and a blueberry cake doughnut.

7. Last thing you drank?
Water.

8. What kind of underwear are you wearing?
Boxer short.

9. What was your best vacation?
One of the trips to the Bahamas. I can't decide which. But it was nice to be able to order those stupid frozen fruity drinks with little umbrellas without having anybody look at me funny.

10. What are you most looking forward to in the next vacation?
The next one on the boards is Miami for Nate and Meg's wedding. Loads of fun to be had.

11. What is happening around you?
Dre is futzing around on line and watching ESPN.

12. What is your shoe size?
13 wide.

13. Last event you dressed up for?
Technically, I "dress up" every Thursday by wearing my union colors, but if you're asking about the last time I wore a suit, that would have been for my grandfather's funeral.

14. Biggest pet peeve?
New Jersey drivers are only slightly ahead of fundie twits.

Dunno. Probably my T-shirt.

Quite a few things. Thank goodness I have some semblance of self-control. Stop laughing.

19. What are your nicknames?
Josh, Swashbuckler, Yosho, Muffin Man.

20. Funniest thing said today?
Charlie was lamenting that he is too short for anything else, yet still too big to ride a horse. I told him that while he would make a very good airplane pilot, his penchant for breaking things and the fact that he would definitely be hit on by Captain Oveur would work against any ambitions in that career path. "Charlie, do you like movies about gladiators?"

21. What are your plans for today?
Finish my two installations, drop off the laundry this evening and work on a CD project revision.

22. Describe your MySpace picture.
Tuco (Eli Wallach) from showdown scene of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

Went to visit jailnurse, went to the aforementioned birthday party, went to see my family (who were all also very impressed by the chocolate baklava) and got up to date with Battlestar Galactica.

24. Favorite brand of clothes?
Whatever fits, is sturdy and seems cost-effective.

25. What is your ringtone?
Vibrate or the voice stating "incoming call."
