Bastiches.

I wasn't able to get the main task I had set aside for yesterday completed. I meant to go to the DMV, but it turns out to be next to impossible to get to in any sort of reasonable manner from where I live. I'm better off going into one of the Manhattan locations (which suck) or borrow hit one of them on Long Island (which are better, but would require somebody lending me their car).

However, I found myself caught by another mixing bug. I was thinking about another big, bold adventure mix, and realized that I had finally gotten the CDs for The Lost World and Jurassic Park III for just such a purpose a few months ago, when lehah recommended both to me. I had the CD of Jurassic Park from when the film came out. I wasn't too fond of the movie, so I never followed up on the sequels (although I did notice the irony of the fact that the only two actors to return from the first film in the second - Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough - play two characters that had died in the original book). I found The Lost World to be a much more entertaining score than its predecessor, and Don Davis' work on Jurassic Park III was quite good. I'll have a bit more to discuss about the music in a little while when I'm sure that I've finalized the edit and post the track listing and liner notes, but I'll just say that it was a lot of fun to put together, and I'm having a good time listening to it today.

Excerpt from the log entry for my job today:
NO CONTINUITY ON PAIR. LFACS LISTINGS ARE COMPLETELY USELESS FOR THIS FEEDER; PAIRS ARE LISTED AS SPARE THAT HAVE CIRCUITS WORKING ON THEM, AS WELL AS PAIRS THAT ARE LISTED AS GOOD BUT HAVE FOREIGN CONDITIONS, IMBALANCES OR EVEN WORSE (WHOMEVER WROTE "LOTS OF SPARES IN LFACS. SEE 2054, 51-100" ON THE FACE OF THIS ORDER IS PERFECTLY WELCOME TO COME DOWN HERE WITH A SIDEKICK METER TO PICK NEW PAIRS THEMSELVES). THIS FEEDER IS A COMPLETE MESS. JEP TO ENGINEERING PER PIERRE MATTHEWS @ 212-643-2512. CIRCUIT IS BUILT TO THE FLOOR, HSE: 341, TIE: 23; RJ48C SJ 2/2, BUT WE MUST GET NEW FACILITIES TO CONNECT FIELDWORK TO IN FEEDER.
I'm curious to see if there will be any backlash, but I doubt it. I didn't mention the person who made the offending comment by name, but since the comment itself appearing on the order was meant to be a "go do your job, slacker" from the person that did write it, they must clearly be living in Fantasyland if they think that the records LFACS has are accurate to begin with, much less at this building. If they want to jab at us on one of my jobs, they get a jab back. Or, in this case, it's "after you go do your job, jackass."

One of the best things about having a union job is that while you are expect to conduct yourself professionally, you don't have to take shit.

MY FELLOW AMERICANS...
I was discussing rice pudding yesterday with melancthe, so Rice to Riches naturally came up. I found that they will deliver anywhere in New York City, but also that they will ship quanities of their Sumo size (40 ounces each) overnight to anywhere in the United States. Don't let the art deco faux trendy metrosexual look of the website dissuade you (that's just because of where the store is located), check out the menu for the currently available flavors. Believe me, they taste even better how they sound.
