...and my journal is now backed up, so if I still need to migrate to another site, I can reconstruct it there. As I indicated earlier, if I leave, I'll post my destination at

I doubt my journal will come under the gun over here; what I post about tends to be pretty innocuous, but LJ has proven that it can not be trusted to behave in a reasonable manner. As with most people here, I have no problem cracking down on sexual predators, but unfortunately this is a blogging site and therefore it is part and parcel of the thing that one must be allowed a certain leeway with regards to the content of their journal. The suspensions were ill-advised and badly handled, and should not have been done without some form of warning. The apology was extremely tardy and came after snide statements were issued to news organizations.
The most annoying aspect of this is that the group claiming responsibility for this is "Warriors for Innocence," a fundie vigilante organization; their website installs spyware on your computer... who are the predators here?
So right now I'm waiting to see what will happen. There is no way around the fact that LJ fucked up big time and may not be trusted again. However, I enjoy the community that I have moved through here, the friends that I have made, and I hope that this isn't the end of my stay here. It all depends on them.
