"You are an oak."

I have been working on the various mix projects I have going on at the moment, one of which is the Bruce Broughton western mix. I decided that I would open this not with the quintessential western theme that Broughton created for Silverado (which triumphantly closes the album instead), but rather his brassy, ballsy Tombstone theme. I created two different variations on the theme, both combining elements from "Looking at Heaven" (the end title), and the alternate version of the main theme that was included in the Intrada expanded remaster . This version features a percussive trail-off as opposed to ending on the final crescendo. This was to dovetail into the opening titles of Silverado, but I found the version that ended on the crescendo was a better succession for the album. This is the alternate edit, which is pretty dynamic in it's own right. It's a nice track to have rattling around in your iPod, anyway (especially if you've never heard this score and have been wondering what the hell I've been talking about all damn week).
