The love scene from Ghost became instantly iconic, and also brought the Righteous Brothers' recording of "Unchained Melody" - lyrics by Hy Zaret applied to the main theme from the film Unchained, scored by Alex North - back to the top of the charts. There was also a brief upsurge in enrollments to pottery classes in schools.
EROTIC, BUT WORK SAFE
Of course, Jerry's brother David couldn't let him get away with that, and so for the trailer of The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear, he recreated the scene but with an arched eyebrow, not to mention a more realistic look at how the clay would behave if the wheel was left spinning. The film was accurately promoted as being "From the brother of the director of Ghost!" Audiences responded so well to the trailer that the scene was then included in the film.
