Lower Automotive Stress Threshold

Oh, how the pendulum of fortune doth swing. Only two months ago I was scrounging about for change, and now I have just purchased a 1997 Toyota Corolla.

This is the first vehicle I have owned that is not a clunker. Actually, it is the first car I have owned that had shocks to speak of. It will be nice to be able to honk my horn without blowing out my electrical system. It was quite nice to be able to close and lock my driver's side door knowing that I don't have to open the passenger side door to open it from the inside. It will also be nice not to have to spend so much money on gas... the Pontiac guzzled like Gene Wilder in Blazing Saddles and would only accept 93 octane. Whiny bitch.

The best part of this is that, were I in a film, a journey in this car could be scored with a bouncy version of the film's main theme instead of the kazoo that would have been tracked in over the old, beat up Firebird.

Given the relative youth of the car, and that it is a Toyota, it is also nice to know that I will have this car for a while. The constant fear that something will go wrong with my car is something that I can ignore for some years now.

Excuse me, I have to go driving.
