A quick reflection

Every once and a while I check out my friends' friends pages. Of course, while I'm there, I often see my own entries as they appear on other people's pages.

There are a lot of people who are writing some very depressing journals. I myself have often used the journal to vent or work things out (sometimes the act of trying to write something down gives one a different perspective), but for the most part, I tend to write about the things that interest me (I also break everything up with titles so if you're not interested in whatever topic I happen to be raging about, you can proceed to the next).

I am not criticizing these other people, but I do believe that the impression they give is often joyless. I mean, what is the point if you're only going to be concentrating on the negative aspects?

I thus offer this challenge to everybody who keeps a Live Journal and is reading this:

Look at your last few entries and determine the tone. If they are primarily negative, go and write something about things that you find fun, hobbies that you have or people that you like.

I mean, life is pain, and everybody who tells you any different is selling something, but it isn't all stormy weather.

* * *

Incidentally, I always compose my entries to look best against a black or dark blue background. Just so you know.
