RCA Victor's rights to their releases of the Star Wars Trilogy scores has lapsed, so Sony Classical has picked them up and will be re-releasing the, the same day as the DVD box set.
Why should I care?
Two reasons. The mixing on Empire is a bit iffy, and the sound on Jedi is godawful (the 1994 Arista box set had much better sound on this title), and these albums have apparently been re-mixed using Sony's Direct Stream Digital system... the other reason is that they have apparentloy been DSD remixed into surround sound.
Apparently they will be hybrid SACDs, capable of playback in all standard CD players, but with high density stereo and surround remixes on the Super Audio layer.
